Studio Bell

Our class had a great trip to the National Music Centre at Studio Bell.  Students got the opportunity to pick and try different instruments such as the guitar, ukelele,  and drums.  They got to go on a scavenger hunt around the centre to look for specific clues and recorded their findings or answers with an Ipad, very motivating way to engage the students.  We had a great time learning how to play wooden spoons, how to try Inuit throat singing and also learned a traditional French Acadian song/dance.  Thank you to our volunteers who helped keep their group motivated and on task!!

Swiming and Interviews

Last week was a very busy week with swimming everyday and student led conferences on Thursday night and Friday.  Thank you to everyone who was able to come in and see what their child has been learning and to chat to me.

This week we have our field trip to the National Music centre at Bell studio on Tuesday.  We are looking forward to learning about the history of music in Canada.  Please make sure you send your child dressed for the weather that day and send a healthy lunch.

Popcorn will be on sale this week on Wednesday and Thursday this week for $2.

In class we are continuing learning about different strategies to use when subtracting and practicing through games and different activities.

Dear Parents,

Our class will be swimming starting from Monday April 16 until Thursday, April 19. Here is a approximate schedule of our morning:

  • 10:30 - begin loading onto the bus
  • 11 to 12 - swim lessons
  • 12:20 - leave pool
  • 12:35 - arrive back to school to each lunch

As you can see, students will not be able to have their lunch until they arrive back to the school(we usually have lunch at 1140). If possible, please try to have students eat a hearty breakfast and large snack that will keep them fuller for longer in the morning. :)

For each of the days, please send your child with a plastic bag containing their belongings: a swimsuit and towel. If you wish to send goggles or caps, please do so at your discretion as we will not be responsible for lost or misplaced items.

AND A TOWEL! :)

Please also discuss with your child, the expectations for the bus ride to and from the pool, as well as appropriate behaviour for the change rooms and during the lessons. We're so excited to swim!!!
